PROBLEM
More than a third of us are not getting enough sleep.
Outside of an underlying medical condition, most cases of daytime doldrums are a direct result of simply not getting enough rest at night. With pandemic anxiety ravaging mental health, many people are using meditation apps to help them practice mindful breathing, achieve restful sleep, and as general stress relief.
THE SOLUTION
Users need a tool that helps provide them with better sleep quality, improving their general well-being.
Our users need a way to access a variety of calming self-care methods because they want to relax after a long, stressful, busy day and be able to have a good night’s sleep.
PROTOTYPE, FEEDBACK, & ITERATION
In this stage, I was able to create my first iterations of the product in the form of low-fidelity wireframes. This was the backbone from which I started to refine the internal structure of the pages, add "flesh" and details to create an initial high-fidelity clickable prototype.

USABILITY TESTING
I conducted remote and in-person usability test sessions that allowed me to listen to and observe six individuals as they carried out tasks using core features of the app
GOALS
To assess the learnability of new users interacting with the app for the first time
To test the main functions, observe and measure how well users can complete certain tasks
During these usability testing sessions, I discovered a series of findings that guided the next interactions of the prototype. I took this information with the help of affinity mapping and a rainbow spreadsheet that helped me facilitate the visualization and address the metrics and frequency of the errors.
PRIORITIZING ERRORS
Difficulty navigating the app due to the lack of a navigation bar at the bottom.
Users showed frustration being to read sleep information after logging in.
No way for users to set an alarm within the app.
TESTING + IMPROVEMENTS
3 major improvements in my design
Based on various feedback from 8 other peers + mentor feedback, I continually iterated my design over the span of 4 weeks- with 3 major improvements:
