I’m Not A Businessman, I’m A Business Man


Jay Z’s brand has a major impact on everything he touches. Every business venture that he approaches, whether it’d be his sports agency, to creating his own own record label, it is an extension of who he is as a person. He understands that he is the brand, and that he needs to express himself through his businesses to reach his audience.

This line once seemed like it only applied to those with celebrity status or the rich. But with the boom of social media, this line can apply to anyone. Social media has made it to where everyone can build a fan base and be a business by just being themselves. The Kardashian’s are another perfect example of building a business off of their personalities. The common joke is to say that they are “famous for being famous”, but that was the plan from the start. The plan was to build a fan base that was interested in their personalities, and that fan base would support them in any business venture they touched.

Creatives have the ability to do the same and build a business around their personal brand. The days of being only a service provider are over. Social media and technology advancements allows use to create our on content, control our own stories and reach more people than ever before.
